beauty of life in the Midwest.
Photography has been a passion of mine for as long as I can remember. Growing up, I was always inspired by my mom, who had an innate talent for capturing moments. I fondly recall the excitement of accompanying her to the store to pick up freshly developed photos, a tradition that sparked my love for visual storytelling. As a preteen, I found joy in decorating my room with photos, turning every surface into a canvas of memories. In my teenage years, I became known as the friend with a disposable camera in hand, capturing candid moments and unforgettable adventures.
As technology evolved, so did my passion, leading me to embrace digital photography. Although I took several photography classes during this time, I never imagined that I would one day turn this passion into a career. Everything changed in 2012 when I welcomed my son into the world. With limited resources for milestone photos, I decided to invest in myself and my craft. I purchased my first DSLR camera and committed to learning how to shoot in manual mode. I took another photography class, devoured countless YouTube tutorials, and sought guidance from some incredible mentors who helped shape my skills.
By 2015, friends and family began asking me to capture their family moments, and I happily obliged, offering my services for free. It was a fulfilling experience that ignited the spark to take my passion to the next level. In 2017, I officially launched Casey K Photos, building a website, creating a Facebook page, and implementing the business structure I had been studying through business and marketing courses. I also found inspiration in podcasts like The Goal Digger Podcast, which fueled my entrepreneurial spirit.
Today, Casey K Photos has evolved into a vibrant photography business that thrives on the connections I make with my clients and the stunning backdrop of Southeast Iowa. I feel truly blessed to live and work in a community where “Iowa Nice” is a real thing—a place where people are warm, welcoming, and genuinely appreciative of the art of photography.
